    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the difference between a full lace and a Lace front wig

On our lace front wig, the sheer lace is just on the front edges, hence the name. The lace covers an approximately 13×6 inches space at the front and about 0.5″ at the back which allows for the wig to be styled in a centre or side part as well in a ponytail. Full lace wigs have a full base made of lace, meaning you can wear the wig in any style you like which is the main reason many people decide to go for a full lace. The lace makes the wig light on the head compared to other wig bases. However, these benefits mean this type of wig tends to be more expensive than others, which is to be expected given their quality and the fact the bases are made by hand.

How long will my hair piece last

The length of time a human hair wig will last depends on how often it’s worn and cared for. Sometimes they can last for over 1 year with daily use and 1-3 years when worn occasionally. We recommend purchasing a second piece if you can so that you can give the wigs a break from time to time. We recommend that you use only our hair care products on the wigs because our hair care products are gentle and deeply moisturizing. Deep conditioning your wig is very important to maintain the integrity of the hair.

Can the parting be changed on the hairpiece

The parting on all our wigs can be changed. To change the parting, wet the top of the wig, about 4” wide and 4” deep then put a new parting and restyle using aaa was dryer. After this, the old parting will not show anymore because we don’t pluck the parting. We just wet the hair, part it, and set the parting with a blow dryer.

Can I receive the hair loss VAT Relief

If you live in the UK and have an official diagnosis of hair loss then yes, you are VAT-exempt. We need an official letter from your GP or your diagnosis letter which states that you have hair loss or undergoing chemotherapy sent to help@lillyshair.com. The letter should have your GP’s or Doctor’s contact details.

    What is a return hair

During the wig ventilation or weft sewing process, there are short ends that may stick out. Approximately 3-4″ for hand-tied wigs and about 1″ to 2′ for wefted wigs. The short hair is formed when the hair is knotted onto the wig base to secure it, a short form on one side and with long hair on the other side of the knot.  This is normal, and you can tame these little hairs with a heated curling iron by flat ironing the short hairs to lay flat and then spray with hair spray to secure them. Alternatively, you can apply hair wax before flat ironing the short hairs.

Can I lighten my hair piece

We do not recommend lightening any of our human hair pieces unless it’s stated in the description as having Natural colour. Our human hair pieces can be darkened by toning, adding lowlights, or adding roots. To achieve light colors, start with a light-blonde wig or a wig that’s naturally closer to white.

Can I wear my wig with glue/tape

All our wigs are glueless. However, you can choose to wear it with glue or tape if you like. We recommend using glue or tape when you want to achieve a high ponytail.

What kind of hair do you use for your hair piece

We use European and Cambodian hair

Do I need to wear a wig cap with my wigs

We suggest wearing a wig cap especially if you have long hair. A wig cap will help to flatten your own hair and give the wig a more natural look. If you prefer not to use a wig cap, it’s also ok.

How do I cut the lace on my wig

We suggest watching a few videos on youtube to learn how to do this effectively. We recommend not cutting too much lace at first because you can always cut more if needed. Once the lace is cut, the wig can no longer be returned.

Are the knots bleached on your wigs

The knots are carefully bleached on all our hairpieces to avoid compromising the integrity of the hair.

How often should I wash my Lillyshair piece

It depends on how often you wear your hairpiece. If you wear your hairpiece daily then we recommend you wash it every 2-4 weeks. Washing your hairpiece too often will dry out the hair and hence shorten its lifespan. We recommend only using our hair care shampoo, mask and conditioner for washing your wig.

Can I apply heat on my hairpiece

Yes, it’s safe to use heat on your hairpiece but you don’t want to fry the hair or damage it over time. We recommend using a lower heat setting and applying a heat protectant spray and distributing it evenly to cover every strand before applying heat.

How should I store my hairpiece when I'm not wearing it

You can store your hairpiece on a wig stand, mannequin head, or in a silk drawstring pouch that the wig or topper arrived in.

How do I wash my hairpiece

    Washing

Before washing your human hair piece, wig or extensions, gently remove any tangles using your paddle brush.
Fill a bowl with cool water, add two pumps of Lillyshair Revitalising shampoo, and gently lather.
Insert the human hair to be washed into the soapy water and gently wash. DO NOT rub hair as this may cause tangling. Rinse thoroughly in cool running water until the water runs clear.
Apply 1-2 pumps of Lillyshair Nourishing Conditioner avoiding the base. Using your fingers, work the conditioner through mid-lengths and ends for about 5 minutes.
Rinse thoroughly in cool running water until the water runs clear.
Wrap hair in a towel and gently pat it to remove excess water.
Gently remove any tangles using your Paddle Brush.
    Hang to air dry.

    Deep Conditioning
Dispense a generous amount of Lillyshair Nourishing Mask on your fingers and work the product through the length of the hair. Leave for at least 15 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with cool water.

    Tips
Human hair must be dried and styled after washing. Don’t rub hair with a towel when drying, this makes the cuticle rough, which can give the appearance of frizz and therefore prevent shine. Always apply Lillyshair Priming Spray before styling and keep the heat low. For a soft and shiny finish, apply Lillyshair Nourishing Serum.

What Products should I use on my hairpiece

We recommend using only the Moisturising Lillyshair hair care range on your hairpiece to increase longevity.
